Police have charged the former partner of Queensland mother-of-two Crystal Beale with her murder after a months-long investigation.

Ms Beale’s body was found in the Brisbane River by a member of the public in the early hours of February 22. 

Police allege that the night before, Ms Beale left a family dinner at Sunnybank at about 8:30pm with her former partner, a 49-year-old West End man.

Her last alleged sighting was by him an hour later when she left the car they had been travelling in at Ryan Street in West End.

Detectives from the Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit have spent the last seven months trying to piece together what happened on the evening of February 21, as well as in the lead-up to that night.

This included combing through over 1,000 of hours of CCTV footage, and conducting multiple appeals for information. 

On Monday, detectives conducted a search warrant at Maudsland, north of the Gold Coast, and arrested the 49-year-old.

He has been charged with one count each of murder (domestic violence offence) and misconduct with a corpse. 

“It is reprehensible what happened to Crystal,”  Detective Inspector Wayne Francis said.

“Over the past seven months detectives have been tirelessly investigating every avenue possible to find answers for her family.

“We were not going to give up until we could provide these answers and get justice for Crystal.”

The woman was last seen wearing a long slim-fitting white dress with a brown leather satchel.

The man is expected to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
