In the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s match between India and Pakistan, which was played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Indian fans teased Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf with chants of ‘Virat Kohli’. Even though Kohli was not playing in the Super 4s match, fans used his reference to tease Rauf.

Kohli had famously smacked Rauf for two back-to-back sixes in the 19th over of the India-Pakistan 2022 T20 World Cup match at Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23, 2022.

The clip of fans chanting Kohli’s name when Rauf was fielding near the boundary ropes is now going viral on the internet. Rauf reacted to the chants by asking fans to raise their voices.

In the Super 4s match against India, Rauf bowled four overs and picked up 2 wickets for 26 runs. His super show with the ball, however, went in vain as Pakistan suffered a defeat by six wickets.

For India, Abhishek Sharma scored 74 runs from 39 balls in the 172-run chase, and his opening partner, Shubman Gill, scored 47 runs from 28 balls. During his stay at the crease, Sharma hammered six fours and five sixes, and Gill smacked 8 fours.

Apart from them, Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 30 runs from 19 balls.

Abhishek creates history

Abhishek entered his name in the history books on Sunday, September 21, by becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit six on the first ball of an innings in a T20I match on two different occasions.

The left-handed batter opened the innings for the Men in Blue in the 172-run chase against Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai and smacked Shaheen Shah Afridi for a six on the first ball.

Before his maximum against Shaheen, Abhishek also scored a six on the first ball of India’s innings in the Asia Cup 2025 match against UAE in Dubai on September 10.

A total of four batters have hit a six on the first ball of a T20I match for India, but Abhishek is the only one to do it twice. Interestingly, both of Abhishek’s first-ball sixes have come in the run chase.
