Borderlands 4 Sales Figures Impress As Take-Two Makes Over $150 Million

Following positive critic reviews and some less positive opinions on the game’s performance, we’re seeing some early player and sales data for Borderlands 4 across all platforms – and the outlook is pretty good for publisher Take-Two and developer Gearbox Software.

According to Alinea Analytics figures from GamesIndustry.biz, the new Xbox shooter has brought in more than 2.5 million players across all platforms so far. Given that Borderlands 4 isn’t available in any subscription service right now, it stands to reason that the full-priced sales figure is about that amount as well, then.

This player number figure has resulted in revenues of more than $150 million for Take-Two, with $80 million of that coming from Steam alone. Valve’s PC platform has also managed more than 300,000 concurrent Borderlands 4 players since launch – that record was achieved the weekend following the game’s release.

It seems that Borderlands 4 is doing pretty well so far then, even with those console and PC performance issues we mentioned up at the top. It had previously been six years since Borderlands 3 in 2019, likely creating considerable demand for this year’s sequel. Here’s hoping the team continues to patch the game up and that players have a smoother experience in the coming weeks and months after launch.
