If you thought celebrity yachting season was over, think again. Apparently it’s still warm enough to enjoy Steven Spielberg’s $250 million boat, Seven Seas, in Portofino, Italy, which is exactly what Barack and Michelle Obama did this weekend.
According to TMZ, Michelle arrived in Portofino before her husband on Friday, but they were soon spotted enjoying lunch with Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, aboard their docked superyacht. I can’t say I blame them — it’s been a stressful few weeks, and if I had a friend with a megayacht, I, too, would have seized on the chance to escape the U.S. and bask in the Mediterranean sun.
This well-timed Italian double date comes two months after the Obamas shot down divorce rumors on Michelle’s podcast, IMO. “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting on my man,” she said. “And we’ve had some really hard times, and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.” Something tells me the Euro summers help?
