A 29-year-old Kalgoorlie man is set to face court today after detectives from WA Police’s Homicide Squad charged him with murder, two days after the death of a man in the state’s Goldfields.

He is accused of deliberately hitting a 42-year-old man, whose identity is not yet known, with a vehicle in the Kalgoorlie suburb of West Lamington.

Police allege the man was struck about 1:35am on Sunday, but emergency services say they were not alerted until 5:50am, more than four hours later.

The 42-year-old man was found unconscious with critical injuries on Hawkins Street near the Kalgoorlie Arboretum, a popular dog exercise park, and died at the scene.

Forensic officers and detectives have been at the scene for the past two days, with the arboretum and surrounding streets cordoned off.

The 29-year-old man, who was remanded in custody overnight, is due to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.
