TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team had a successful day in the qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championship at the University of Tulsa Monday.
Junior Kholo Montsi heads to the round of 32 after topping Luis Felipe Miguel from Florida State, 6-4, 7-5. If the Oklahoma transfer wins against Lucas Andrade da Silva of South Carolina tomorrow he will move up to the main draw.
Senior Togan Tokac and junior Tiago Pires took down the No. 1 seeded duo of Niels Ratiu and Chris Xu from UNC in the doubles round of 32, 6-4, 6-3. The tandem goes up against Santiago Giamichelle and Derrick Chen of Georgia to secure a spot in the main draw.
Pires fell in his opening singles match against the No. 3 seed Zoran Ludoski of Arizona, 6-0, 7-6 (1).
Play continues tomorrow with the singles round of 32 and doubles round of 16.
