Rajat Bedi, known for his role in Aryan Khan’s ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood,’ shares a surprising connection with Shah Rukh Khan. Bedi started his film career as an assistant director on ‘Zamaana Deewana,’ starring SRK. He fondly recalls being nicknamed ‘Tiger’ by Shah Rukh Khan due to his energetic presence on set. Rajay Bedi is currently enjoying his moment in limelight for his portrayal of Jaraj Saxena in Aryan Khan’s debut show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Being an actor on Aryan’s show is not the only connection Rajat has with Shah Rukh Khan. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Rajat opened up about the time when he joined the movie business as an assistant director on Ramesh Sippy’s Zamaana Deewana which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead with Raveena Tandon. He said, “ I was 18 when I joined Ramesh Sippy sir as an assistant director, I worked on the film for two and half years.”“ On the same set were two other Rajats: Rajat Rawail ( nephew of Rahul Rawail) and me. And Shah Rukh Khan sir gave me the nickname ‘Tiger’. I was full of energy, always shouting on the set, being just a fourth AD. Everyone thought I had way too much energy, the whole set then started calling me Tiger” he added. The story of Tiger didn’t end there. Rajat fondly remembers the antics and mishaps that came with being a young assistant director surrounded by legends. He recalls a humorous incident with Anupam Kher during his first clapper duties. “I gave a clap on his face, and back then chalk was used to write on the clapboard. And after my clap as he began saying his dialogue all the chalk powder flew into his mouth. He yelled at me saying who uses so much chalk- use a little less”..Rajat also revealed that his character of Jaraj was Aryan’s favourite in the show, talking about it he said , “ My character is Aryan’s favourite, he loves Jaraj. During his growing up years he (Aryan) was a huge fan of Koi… Mil Gaya, and somehow this story that he’s created, the whole show, he was very, very sure he wanted me for the role. I feel extremely blessed for that. I had no idea that he was making this show and in fact he reached out to me via some common folks asking him to meet him at the office.”
