A popular beef mince product has been recalled after plastic was found inside.
The alert for Free Country Organic Beef Mince 500g from Auspork Australia Pty Ltd, with a best before date of September 28, was issued by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) on Tuesday.
The regulator said the product was contaminated with foreign matter — plastic — which could cause illness or injury if consumed.

The mince has been sold at independent food retailers, including IGA stores in NSW, QLD, VIC, TAS, SA and NT, as well as Supabarn in the ACT.
“Consumers should not eat this product,” FSANZ said.
Shoppers are advised to return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
FSANZ also suggested any consumers concerned about their health to seek medical advice.

It’s been a big week for FSANZ with the organisation issuing a number of recalls.
Two healthy snacks were pulled from shelves after metal fragments were found inside.
Smooshed Wholefood and Protein Balls was recalled on Sunday, followed by Made Real Wholefood Balls on Monday.
Made Real Wholefood Balls have been available for sale in ALDI Stores across NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA and WA.

A popular dumpling product was also recalled last Friday, just two months after a similar alert.

A batch of Urban Eats Japanese Style Vegetable Gyoza 750g was found to have been contaminated with glass, with best-before dates ranging from April 10, 2027 to June 15.
The product has been available at Aldi store in NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and WA.
In a separate alert issued on Friday, bowls of Fine Food WA’s crunchy brown rice salad were recalled over a Listeria contamination.
The impacted product, with a use-by date marking of September 22, 2025, has been available at Woolworths stores in WA.
