TEMPE, Ariz. – The Belmont University men’s tennis team has once again been tabbed an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, while senior Diego Castro and junior Eli Mizerski have been selected for College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® acclaim. Additionally, Castro and junior Esunge Ndumbe have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes as announced by the association Monday.

To earn ITA All-Academic Team recognition, a team must hold a grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale) for the academic year. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the academic year.

For CSC Academic All-District® honors, undergraduate student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have been in the team’s lineup for at least 70 percent of the squad’s dual matches during the season.

A native of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil (Colégio Einstein), Castro earned honorable mention on the 2025 Horizon League All-Academic Team and landed a spot on both the fall and spring Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Graduating with his bachelor’s degree in business management in May, Castro held an impressive 3.89 GPA throughout his undergraduate studies.

Ndumbe, a native of Keller, Texas (Keller HS), majoring in business administration, and Mizerski, a native of Warsaw, Poland (LXXV LO im. Jana III Sobieskiego), studying computer science, were placed on the spring 2025 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.

The trio was instrumental in the Bruins’ championship season this spring as Belmont captured its second Horizon League Championship title in three seasons and third consecutive Horizon League South Division crown. Following the Bruins’ fourth NCAA Championship appearance in program history and third in five seasons, Belmont finished ranked ninth in the ITA Ohio Valley Region.
