Logitech has unveiled its new Zone Wireless 2 ES and Zone Wired 2 headsets, aiming to address workplace distractions in open office environments.

The newly launched headsets incorporate adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC) and microphones powered by artificial intelligence to automatically filter out surrounding office noise. Both models are positioned towards business use and come with certifications for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, aiming to simplify compatibility and reduce IT support requirements.

Noise in the workplace

Open-plan office layouts have become a standard in many organisations, but persistent background noise remains a challenge for focused work. According to studies referenced by Logitech, companies endure estimated productivity losses amounting to USD $468 billion each year due to distractions that undermine concentrated tasks.

Hanneke Faber, Chief Executive Officer, commented on the conditions employees face in modern office spaces:

“Uninterrupted focus is the new currency of work. With more employees returning to office, it’s more critical than ever to protect their concentration. Zone Wireless 2 ES and Zone Wired 2 for Business were engineered to safeguard against those costly distractions.”

Logitech highlights that both headsets adapt their noise cancellation in real time, allowing employees to move between different office areas without needing to manually adjust settings. The use of dual AI-powered microphones aims to suppress external sounds such as colleague conversations, keyboard noises, and general movement, enhancing call quality in a range of sound environments.

Features and certifications

Zone Wireless 2 ES is designed to help eliminate minor interruptions that disrupt workflow. The headset has been certified for compatibility with major conferencing platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. For Microsoft Teams and Google Meet users, native Bluetooth call control certification means users have the flexibility to operate without a dongle, freeing up USB ports. When used with a dongle, a smart feature ensures the device is hidden from meeting applications when the headset is switched off, reducing confusion about active audio sources.

For organisations that opt for wired accessories, Zone Wired 2 offers a USB plug-and-play version equipped with the same features and platform certifications as its wireless counterpart, eliminating the need for battery charging or concerns about wireless connectivity in high-density office environments.

IT departments can deploy silent firmware updates to both new headset models using Logitech Sync. This approach allows updates to be delivered without interrupting employees or prompting help desk queries, as users do not see notifications or experience downtime during the update process.

Comfort and customisation

The headsets’ design draws inspiration from gaming headsets, including a headstrap engineered to distribute pressure evenly, with comfort considerations aimed at long-duration wear. Features such as rotating earcups, a reversible microphone boom, and an adjustable headband allow users to tailor the fit to their preference. The Zone Wireless 2 ES also provides up to 20 hours of talk time and 25 hours of listening time with ANC enabled.

Users can further personalise their experience using Logi Tune, which enables adjustment of audio, ANC settings, and charging preferences. The headsets are available in three colours: rose, off-white, and graphite.

Sustainability efforts

Logitech has emphasised sustainability in the design of the Zone Wireless 2 ES and Zone Wired 2. Components such as earpads, headstraps, and batteries are replaceable, and the plastic used in construction contains at least 30% post-consumer recycled content. Magnets in the headsets are produced from 100% post-consumer recycled rare earth metal, batteries use 100% recycled cobalt, and the travel bag fabric is made entirely from recycled plastics.

Availability and pricing

Zone Wireless 2 ES for Business is anticipated to be available globally through authorised resellers at a suggested retail price of AUD $299.95 for the Bluetooth version and AUD $309.95 for the version with a receiver. The wired Zone Wired 2 for Business version is scheduled to be available at a recommended price of AUD $199.95.
