Cue the Y2K nostalgia: Christina Aguilera has recreated one of her most iconic looks, and said look includes sparkling silver chaps. The “Lady Marmalade” singer hit the stage at Portola Festival in San Francisco on Saturday, September 20 wearing an updated take on her ensemble from her 2002 “Dirrty” music video, which consisted of a crochet bodysuit and leather chaps.

The new look was an upgrade from head to toe. Apart from her silver chaps, Aguilera also wore a black leather bodysuit that was almost completely covered by a beaded chainmail overlay. She paired the layered ensemble with fishnet tights and oversized sunnies, per Page Six.

“Dirrty” is one of many hit singles from the singer’s 2002 album Stripped. Aguilera used the project to establish her alter ego Xtina; it ultimately became one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century.

In 2022, Aguilera celebrated the album’s 20th anniversary by releasing a deluxe edition that included two new tracks: “I Will Be” and “Beautiful (Benny Benassi Remix).”

“I wanted this album to embrace every different part of being a woman,” Aguilera later told Vogue of Stripped. “There’s such a rulebook that’s handed to us [as women in music], and I was given it since I was a little girl. The older I got, the more I realized you have to stand up against it and create your own story. I wanted to go against the grain of what a pop star should look and sound like.”
