Zenit defeats Dubai in a thrilling VTB Cup semifinal, advancing to the finals with a brilliant comeback.
Dubai’s team was without Aleksa Avramovic, Davis Bertans, Mam Jaiteh, Nate Mason, and McKinley Wright.
Dubai opened the game excellently and managed to pull ahead after five minutes of play, gaining their first noticeable lead of five points with a three-pointer by Dwayne Bacon. Zenit managed to keep up with Dubai during the first quarter, but Dubai still led by five points at the end of the first quarter.

A quick five points by Zenit at the start of the second quarter brought the game level, after which the Russian team completely turned the score around and took the lead at 31-29. However, the relentless Dubai went on an 11-0 run, reaching their most convincing lead of plus nine at that moment. Zenit managed to reduce the deficit to minus four thanks to Trent Frazier. Yet Dubai went on another run, and with Dzanan Musa, they reached their first double-digit lead, going into halftime with a plus-10 advantage.
Dubai continued with phenomenal play and, already at the start of the third quarter, built a 19-point lead with points from Dzanan Musa. Zenit struggled to keep any connection until the very end of this quarter, when Nenad Dimitrijevic managed to reduce the deficit to a respectable minus 11.
Although Zenit threatened at the start of the final quarter and got within just one point at 89-90, the team fully came back and managed to tie the game. In the end, Zenit, led by Frazier, completely turned the result, securing a 107-103 victory and a place in the final against CSKA Moscow.
The most efficient players for Dubai were Dzanan Musa with 25 points, Kosta Kondic with 22 points, and Dwayne Bacon with 21.
For Zenit, the standouts were Alex Poythress with 25 points and Nenad Dimitrijevic with 23, and Trent Frazier with 22.
