The Phoenix Suns front office has impressed Devin Booker with one addition.

Moving on from Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal was extremely important for the Phoenix Suns during the offseason.

The team can finally focus on building another championship-contending core with Devin Booker as the focal point.

Speaking of Durant’s trade to the Houston Rockets, the Suns gained a terrific player in Dillon Brooks, and Booker is seemingly already a fan of him.

In recent times, Brooks has earned a reputation for being an annoying player on the court. This has led to Brooks becoming the villain in the eyes of many fans.

However, Booker explained why the Suns had no issues embracing Brooks ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

“He called me immediately, I think, the day that the trade went down. Just asked about my plans during the summer, when we’re going to link up and get things started,” Booker said after Suns’ Media Day.

Booker added: “Everybody always explains him as the guy you hate when he’s not on your team, but you embrace him when he is.

“I think that whole reputation has taken away from what type of player he really is and how effective he is.”

Brooks had a solid run with the Rockets, even making the likes of Draymond Green angry. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table for the Suns.

Phoenix Suns head coach Jordan Ott on Dillon Brooks

In the new era, the Suns will be coached by Jordan Ott. Evidently, it’s important for the players to be on the same page with coach Ott.

Despite Brooks’ concerning reputation, he has already impressed Ott, as the Suns head coach heaped huge praise on him.

“I think we have all seen Dillon as an opponent. I actually was in LA, a couple of years ago, in the playoffs against him, and the edge and the competitive spirit that he played with is unmatched.

“Just knowing him from afar, we knew that competitive spirit would lift our group. Things we didn’t know is that his work ethic backs it up. He’s not all smoke,” Ott stated with confidence.

The Suns look like a solid match for Brooks, but only time will tell if he can truly secure a long-term relationship with the team.
