Talking points

Throw out the Throwdown history
The head-to-head results would indicate Melbourne United have the upper hand on their city rival, but Josh King’s men proved last season that they’ll always be up for this fight.

Two completely new rosters for this season and both feeling very good about themselves after Round 1 heading into this. Can the Phoenix’s defensive pressure cause a boilover against United?

Jesse Edwards is a big problem
It’s only been two games, but Dutch center Jesse Edwards is making his presence felt in a big way. He was a major reason why United went into Tasmania and walked away with a win, before going nearly perfect in their dominating win over the Breakers.

Edwards may just be that missing piece from United’s last two seasons to help them get one step further in NBL26.

Who said what

Milton Doyle
“We’re going to get hyped up a little bit before it, I’m excited for it… We’re fighting over whose gym it is, and it’s ours. We’ve just got to let them know, (give them a) reminder.”

Daniel Foster
“There is obviously a lot of history between the teams but the most important thing is we get the win and continue to build for the games ahead.”
