DOGS EYE DOCKER

The Western Bulldogs are keeping an eye on out of contract Docker Neil Erasmus as he weighs up his future.

AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich reported that the Dogs are interested in acquiring Erasmus’ services as they look to replenish their midfield stocks.

Erasmus has struggled to break into Justin Longmuir’s midfield group since arriving at the club as pick 10 in the 2021 draft.

According to Gabelich, the Dockers are keen to retain Erasmus, but he’s weighing up his options.

The young midfielder has played 33 games at Fremantle, including 10 this year.

Arch rivals West Coast are also in the market for more midfield depth to support Harley Reid and co, and are looking at a range of out of favour on-ballers across the country to boost their own stocks.

SUNS MID ‘KEEN’ ON MOVE

Gold Coast Suns midfielder Alex Davies is reportedly “keen” to move clubs at the end of the year, according to AFL Media’s Cal Twomey.

Davies had strong levels of interest around the competition last year, but penned an extension at the Suns hoping to break into Damien Hardwick’s senior side more permanently.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature at AFL level this year and unless there’s an injury to one of Gold Coast’s star on-ballers, it’s hard to see a world where he starts featuring regularly under Hardwick.

The Suns Academy product has been in solid form at VFL level however, where he has averaged 23.2 disposals, 6.5 clearances and 5.4 tackles a game.

“He signed on at the Suns last year until the end of 2026, but he is looking for opportunities elsewhere,” Twomey said.

“I think he’ll be keen for a move this trade period. He hasn’t broken into the Suns midfield this year at all, so he is a name to watch again.

“I think he’ll be open to changing clubs.”
