Bellville High School beat Wharton High School Monday, Sept. 22 in Bellville to capture the District 23-4A team tennis title for the first time in seven years by a score of 11 matches to 7.  

“We knew that Bellville had a good team and on this day, they won the close matches. We lost three super tiebreakers that could have changed the outcome,” said Wharton head tennis coach Roben Eller. “We have to play more consistently to beat good teams. We still qualify for the playoffs, and are going to put this behind us and focus on the opportunity to keep our season going. “ 

Bi-district matches will be played on Oct. 6-7 and opponents and times will be announced when the other districts have established their winners.  

La Grange beat Giddings, 15-4, to secure third place in District 23-4A..

Winning matches for the Tigers were Ringo Rodriguez, Gavin Alvarez, Eli Mendez, Ryan Felix, Robert Fraker, Andrew Wind, Kaden Armstrong, Harmony Guerra and Gisselle Olmedo.
