AS YOU MAY KNOW…the Mariners starting pitching staff has had an incredible season with several members of the current quintet setting career high marks in strikeouts: George Kirby (14 K on 6/8 at LAA and 9/14 vs. LAA), Logan Gilbert (13 K on 8/24 vs. ATH), Bryan Woo (13 K on 9/13 vs. LAA) and today’s starter Bryce Miller (11 K on 9/11 vs. LAA) , but…DID YOU KNOW?…this season, the Mariners starting pitching staff has posted a franchise-best 8.87 SO/9 rate, ranking ahead of their numbers posted in 2023 (8.55) and 2024 (8.49)…among starting staffs in Mariners history, they also rank 2nd in strikeouts (861), 3rd in WHIP (1.181), 3rd in SO/BB (3.57)…Seattle starters have struck out 866 batters this season, which ranks 2nd in the Majors trailing only the Philadelphia Phillies (958 K).

SEATTLE LOCKS IN FIRST-ROUND BYE, #2 SEED IN AL…the Mariners (90–71) are secured as the #2 seed in the American League Playoffs…Seattle will have home-field advantage in the Division Series, hosting games 1 and 2 of the ALDS at T-Mobile Park on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5…the Mariners would also host game 5 (if necessary) on Friday, Oct. 10…the Mariners announced that tickets for all 3 games of the Division Series at T-Mobile Park are sold out.
CAL & HOME RUN HISTORY…Cal Raleigh leads the Major Leagues with 60 home runs this season…here’s a look at 3 major records he’s set in 2025:
· Mariners Record — Cal has the most home runs in a season by a Mariners player, surpassing Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. (56 HR in 1997 and ‘98).
· Switch-Hitter Record — Cal has the most home runs in a season by a switch-hitter, surpassing Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle (54 HR for the 1961 Yankees).
· Catcher Record — Cal has the most home runs in a season by a primary catcher, surpassing Salvador Perez (48 HR for the 2021 Royals).
CAL RALEIGH: AL MVP CALIBER SEASON…in 158 games played this season, Cal Raleigh is batting .246 (146×593) with 110 runs, 24 doubles, 60 home runs, 125 RBI, 96 walks and 14 stolen bases, getting on base at a .358 clip and slugging .590 with a .948 OPS and 171 OPS+…Raleigh leads the Majors in home runs and also ranks 3rd in RBI, 3rd in slugging, T-3rd in OPS, 6th in walks, 3rd in extra-base hits (84), 3rd in total bases (350) and 2nd in fWAR (9.0)…last night, Cal snapped a career-high 24-game on-base streak (8/31–9/26), during which he reached base at a .405 clip, slugging .663 for a 1.068 OPS.
JULIO REACHES 30/30…Julio Rodríguez last night recorded his 29th and 30th stolen bases of the season, reaching his 2nd career 30+ home run and 30+ stolen base season after also tallying 32 homers and 37 stolen bases in 2023…Julio became the first player in franchise history to record multiple 30/30 seasons and only the 2nd player in MLB history to record multiple 30/30 seasons at age 24-or-younger, along with Bobby Witt Jr.-KC…Rodríguez is one of 7 players in the Majors to accomplish the feat this season and joins Witt Jr. and Francisco Lindor-NYM as the only players with multiple 30/30 seasons since 2023.
JULIO! JULIO!…over his last 68 games (7/11-c), Julio Rodríguez is batting .299 (81×271) with 51 runs, 16 doubles, 1 triple, 21 home runs, 51 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 20 walks, getting on base at a .356 clip, slugging .598 with a .954 OPS in 295 plate appearances…overall this season, Julio is batting .267 (174×652) with 31 doubles, 4 triples, 32 home runs, 95 RBI and 30 stolen bases with a .798 OPS…his 32 homers are tied for a career-high (also: 2023).

NAYL’ING IT…first baseman Josh Naylor has an active 12 game hitting streak (9/13-c), the 3rd-longest streak of his career (14 G in 2023, 13 G earlier in 2025)…during the streak, Naylor is batting .432 (19×44) with 7 runs, 4 doubles, 1 home run, 12 RBI and 3 stolen bases with a 1.049 OPS…Naylor also recorded his 30th stolen base of the season on Friday, joining Jeff Bagwell (2x, 1997, ’99) and Paul Goldschmidt (2016) as the only first basemen (min. 2/3 of game at first base) in MLB history with a 20+ home run, 30+ stolen base season.
SEÑOR SMOKE…Mariners closer Andrés Muñoz has 38 saves and a 1.74 ERA (12 ER, 62.1 IP) with 83 strikeouts and 28 walks in 64 appearances this season…he ranks 3rd in saves behind Carlos Estévez-KC (42 SV) and Robert Suarez-SD (40).
CANZONE KEEPS ON HITTING…right fielder Dominic Canzone is batting .300 (73×243) with 30 runs, 11 doubles, 11 home runs, 32 RBI and 20 walks in 82 games this season, slugging .481 with an .839 OPS…Canzone is 1 of 12 MLB players to hit .300 with at least 200 at-bats this season, ranking T-8th in the AL…among left-handed hitters, Canzone ranks 3rd to only Jonathan Aranda-TB (.316 AVG) and Daylen Lile-WSN (.302 AVG)…Josh Naylor (.29 5AVG) also ranks T-5th on that list.
DAN WILSON: AL MANAGER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE…in his first full season as manager after taking the helm on Aug. 22, 2024, Dan Wilson has led the Mariners to their first division title since 2001 and their fourth overall in club history…he is the first manager in club history to lead his team to the Postseason in his first full season in charge and just the second manager in club history to win the AL West, joining Mariners Hall of Famer Lou Piniella.
BBWAA SEATTLE CHAPTER AWARDS…on Friday, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America Seattle Chapter announced the following award winners: Cal Raleigh as Player of the Year, Bryan Woo as Pitcher of the Year, and Andrés Muñoz as the inaugural Larry Stone “Good Guy Award”, given to a player whose contributions spill out beyond the field and include their presence in the clubhouse and community, and their interactions with the media.
