A record-breaking jackpot was claimed on The Chase Australia after the Mega Money Spinner added an unexpected $100,000.

A team of four contestants on The Chase Australia stunned audiences after banking a record-breaking $141,000 in prize money, taking down one of the show’s most formidable Chasers in the process.

Helen-Mary McMeekan, a 65-year-old nurse from Adelaide, teamed up with Ben Quinn, 39, a dog rescuer from Byron Bay, Murray Fraser, 49, a World War I enthusiast from Yattalunga, and Monica Lenaz, 24, a paralegal from Sydney, to score the huge win against Anne Hegerty, better known as The Governess.

The four went into the Final Chase with $41,000 already in the pot. Their total climbed when they reached 13 steps and triggered the Mega Money Spinner, which boosted their pool by another $100,000, leaving them with a massive $141,000 to play for.

In the tense showdown, the group landed four key pushbacks against Hegerty to hold their lead and clinch the historic win.

The Chase Australia is produced by ITV Studios Australia for the Seven Network.

The Chase Australia airs 5pm weekdays on Seven and 7plus.
