Coles and Woolworths have monthly magazines filled with budget-friendly recipes and it looks like Aldi is taking a run at the major supermarkets. But, since Aldi already holds the crown for Australia’s cheapest supermarket, the German retailer appears to be leaning into viral recipes.
One of my favourite pastimes is watching videos of people making delicious recipes and saving them to my phone — only to never make them. Aldi’s new online offering could change that.
Aldi said on Tuesday that the website Aldify not only offers free takes on the “Internet’s top viral recipes”, it will send you the exact ingredient list to take to the supermarket and purchase what you need.
“It’s time for you to try the recipes that are breaking the Internet, without breaking the bank,” Aldi said.
The new service also appears to be linked to Aldi’s latest “game-changing” home delivery move.
When Yahoo Lifestyle navigated through the website, we found that you could be given the option to email yourself the shopping list or order everything you need from Aldi via DoorDash.

Can I get groceries delivered from Aldi?
The DoorDash partnership started in July and was initially only on offer to those in Canberra.
But, earlier this month, it expanded nationwide.
Coles and Woolworths offer their own online delivery options — a move Aldi had been apprehensive to follow, given concerns about how it could increase the cost of their budget-friendly items.
However, Simon Padovani-Ginies, Aldi Australia’s group director, said the supermarket needed to “respond to what our customers have been asking for”.

“Through DoorDash, shoppers can get their hands on Aldi’s exclusive range of top-notch products at everyday low prices at the click of a button,” he said.
“Whether it’s midweek essentials, forgotten ingredients, weekend top-ups, or their full haul, most customers around the country can now order their Aldi favourites online and have their haul delivered straight to their doors.”
The price gap between Coles and Woolworths is likely to be narrowed when you get your food delivered.
Items bought through DoorDash are subject to service and delivery fees.
But, Aldi said its low base pricing meant it would still be the most affordable option for online supermarket shoppers.
“It is our intention to make sure that we are the most affordable alternative, whether that is bricks and mortar or buying online,” Aldi said.
What is Aldify?
Aldify features several ‘viral’ recipes, along with easy-to-follow instructions and shopping lists that make purchasing the items nice and simple as well.
The recipe pictured above is Aldi’s version of the hot honey beef bowls that have been taking over TikTok.
This is a taste of the viral recipes currently on the Aldify website:

Aussies transforming how they shop online
Australians have embraced online grocery shopping, and some are even using new methods to shake up how they plan their meals.
While Aldify won’t sort your entire weekly meal planning, Aldi shopper Emma Levett told Yahoo Lifestyle she had used AI to do just that.
The full-time working mum used ChatGPT for a week and said it compared supermarket prices to provide an itemised list complete with a total spend.

“Ordinarily, I’d shop in Woolies, but the breakdown showed me my list would cost $145 here compared to $140 in Coles and $120 in Aldi,” she said.
She was given recipes for an easy beef stew, creamy chicken and spinach pasta, sausage tray bake and sweet potato curry.

“Along with the recipes it then broke it down into a shopping list for the week,” she said.
“My usual 30 minutes of prevaricating had just been entirely outsourced and simplified into a two minute task.”
