HAMPDEN, Mass. — The Villanova men’s golf team concluded the UConn Invitational at Greathorse in fifth place Tuesday afternoon.
VU shot its second best round of the tournament, shooting 290 (+9) and had the fourth best score of the 15 teams competing.
Matt Zerfass built upon a stellar round Monday to raise six spots to a third place finish, his best for the Wildcats. Zerfass birdied at six, eight, 10 and 14, only shooting over par on 16 and 18.
Ryan Pamer followed for Villanova, shooting 72 (E) on the day to come in at 220 (+4) in the tournament. Pamer finished tied for 20th.
Vibhav Alokam shot 73 (+1) Tuesday, closing his tournament shooting 221 (+5) and tied for 23rd. Alokam started the day positively, picking up birdies at one, two and six.
Nathan Marion also finished tied for 23rd after shooting 75 (+3) Tuesday and 221 (+5) in the tournament.
Competing as an individual, Luke Leonard finished tied for 46th. The freshman shot 77 (+5) Tuesday and 228 (+12) for the tournament.
Brockton English rounded out the Wildcats, finishing tied for 70th and shooting 237 (+21) in the tournament.
Villanova continues its fall slate of tournaments Oct. 13-14 at the Echo Lake Country Club in West Field, New Jersey when the team plays at the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
