Police are hunting a Sydney rapper over a gangland murder where a man was ambushed at a service station and killed by two gunmen.

Harley Johan, 31, is believed to now be offshore after the daylight shooting of Niddal Acherkouk in Surry Hills in November last year.

Footage released by police shows the harrowing moments Mr Acherkouk was chased around the inner city services station by his killers and gunned down.

Mr Acherkouk can be seen running from one of the gunmen, hiding between fuel pumps as shots are fired at him.

The video shows the gunman in a black tracksuit attempting to keep his hoodie over his head as he continues to chase Mr Acherkouk.

Police believe Mr Acherkouk was returning from dinner at a nearby Turkish restaurant when he was ambushed on Cleveland Street about 7:45pm on November 22.

Another gunman was previously shown in the footage donning a dark black poncho as he pursued and fatally shot Mr Acherkouk.

The burnt out getaway car carrying the gunmen was found in Kensington Road, Kensington, a short time later.

Police believe the man in the footage, released on Thursday, drove the stolen Porsche from the scene, set it alight and then fled in a stolen Audi in Kensington.

Mr Acherkouk had links to organised crime and police are investigating what feud may have been behind his killing.

“This is an outrageous incident and demonstrated a high level of reckless indifference to the public who were around that area at that time,” Police Superintendent Andrew Garner said at the time.

Mr Johan, who performs under the moniker YC Ewzy, is wanted by the Homicide Squad over the shooting and police believe he fled the country shortly after the attack.

Mr Acherkouk’s death was the 27th gangland murder since the shootings over the city’s drug war began in 2020.
