Ring has announced a new range of security cameras and doorbells featuring 2K and 4K video quality, artificial intelligence-based features, and updated designs aimed at improving neighbourhood safety.
The new product lineup includes devices equipped with Retinal Vision in both 2K and 4K resolutions, intended to deliver clearer and more detailed surveillance footage for residential users in Australia and New Zealand.
Retinal 4K Vision
The lineup includes the Wired Video Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen), Spotlight Camera Pro (2nd Gen), Floodlight Camera Pro (2nd Gen), and Outdoor Camera Pro-all supporting 4K video through Retinal 4K technology.
According to Ring, the new cameras are able to capture critical visual details with higher accuracy, supporting up to 10x Enhanced Zoom and improved performance under low-light conditions.
The Retinal Vision imaging system combines higher resolution with advanced AI tuning, optimising video at every step of the recording and playback process. Ring claims that this results in footage that is both sharper and more lifelike for end users, irrespective of lighting conditions.
“At Ring, we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in home security, and today’s launch, including our first-ever 4K lineup, represents a significant milestone for our customers,” said Mark Fletcher, APAC Managing Director, Ring and Blink.
“With Retinal Vision technology, we’re not just improving resolution-we’re fundamentally changing how our cameras capture and process images to deliver unprecedented clarity and intelligence. Our team is excited to bring these innovations to Aussie and Kiwi households, where customers have always been early adopters of smart home technology. This new lineup reinforces our commitment to the region and our mission to make neighbourhoods safer through accessible, cutting-edge security solutions.”
Outdoor and doorbell options
The Spotlight Cam Pro and Floodlight Cam Pro are designed for outdoor use, providing varying levels of brightness with 600 lumen spotlights for smaller spaces and 2000 lumen spotlights for covering larger areas such as driveways and gardens.
These models are equipped with Low-Light Site technology to enhance colour video capture during low-illumination periods.
The Wired Video Doorbell Pro and Outdoor Camera Pro are marketed as offering enhanced imaging and security features, with adaptive night vision and 3D motion detection, supporting up to 10x zoom. The company says these features assist users in identifying details, even in total darkness.
Retinal 2K Vision
In addition to the 4K devices, Retinal 2K Vision is now available in two products: the Indoor Camera Plus and Wired Video Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen). These aim to deliver improved pixel density and clarity over previous models, alongside Low-Light Sight and adaptive night vision, with up to 4x enhanced zoom.
The company states that improvements in video quality through Retinal 2K are intended for greater accuracy and reliability, helping users clearly monitor their property in different lighting and environmental conditions.
Ring stated, “This isn’t just an incremental improvement in video quality. Retinal 2K represents our commitment to continuous invention and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in home security. Every pixel matters when it comes to keeping your home safe.”
AI-powered features
Ring is introducing a new AI feature called Smart Video Descriptions, which will soon be available in Australia and New Zealand. The feature uses generative AI to provide concise, real-time text descriptions of motion events detected by Ring cameras and doorbells. These notifications are designed to help users quickly distinguish between everyday and urgent activities, aiding faster decision-making.
With this feature enabled-and available to customers subscribed to the Ring Home Premium plan-users will receive notifications such as, “A person is walking up the steps with a black dog,” or “Two people are peering into a white car in the driveway.” The technology is designed to focus only on the main subject that triggered the motion alert, keeping descriptions brief for ease of review.
