Dusan Alimpijevic in an elite group that includes Ivkovic, Obradovic, Pesic, Kokoskov

Misko Raznatovic shared an emotional message after Dusan Alimpijevic was officially named the new head coach of Serbia.

The president of the BeoBasket agency, who has represented Alimpijevic for many years, expressed his pride over the appointment of his longtime client to one of the most prestigious coaching positions in European basketball.

In a heartfelt social media post, Raznatovic reflected on the magnitude of the moment and the symbolic journey Alimpijevic has taken — from being the youngest coach in EuroLeague history to becoming the head coach of a nation known for its legendary basketball minds.

“Every boy, when he starts playing basketball, dreams of becoming an NBA player. On the other hand, every young coach, when he begins his career, dreams of one day becoming the head coach of the national team — fully aware of how difficult that goal is to achieve.

And if that young coach is from Serbia, a country with probably the best coaching school in the world and home to some of the greatest minds in European basketball, achieving that dream really feels like science fiction,” wrote Raznatovic.

“Today, however, that science fiction has become reality for Dusan Alimpijevic, who has become the head coach of the Serbian senior national team, signing a contract until 2028!”

Raznatovic emphasized that Alimpijevic has now joined the “elite circle” of legendary Serbian basketball coaches.

“Dusan now joins an elite group that includes Duda Ivkovic, Zeljko Obradovic, Svetislav Pesic, Igor Kokoskov, and in a way, also Ranko Zeravica, Aleksandar Nikolic, and Mirko Novosel…” said Raznatovic, adding that he feels especially proud because he knows better than anyone the path Alimpijevic took to reach this moment.

“I am fully aware of the importance of this recognition for Dusan and proud of what he has achieved, knowing the path he took — a path that, probably, I know better than anyone else!”

Finally, Raznatovic congratulated both his client and the Basketball Federation of Serbia for their bold move.

“Congratulations to Dusan, but also to the Basketball Federation of Serbia for making a brave decision to entrust the senior team to a 39-year-old coach! Let a new era of Serbian basketball begin — an era that, I believe, will bring a lot of joy to all fans of this sport!”
