SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—University of Hawai’i men’s tennis player Azuma Visaya cruised to a straight-set victory in the semifinals to advance to Sunday’s Big West Fall Invite championship singles match a the Arnhold Tennis Center.

On Saturday, the 65th-ranked Visaya cruised past Cal Poly’s Jovan Lubbe for a straight-set, semifinal win. 6-2, 6-3. With the win, Visaya advances to the championship singles match against UC Davis’ Lucas Bollinger. Bollinger defeated UC Irvine’s Max Fardanesh to reach the finals.

In consolation singles matches, UH’s Timothy Li defeated UC Davis’ Nadaul Cheam, 6-2, 6-1. Newcomers Kosuke Nakanishi and Kent Mueller both fell in their consolation matches. Nakanishi was edged out in a first set tiebreaker and fell in straight sets to UC Irvine’s Rui Nia Huang, 7-6 (4), 6-3. UC Santa Barbara’s Maei Gavrea defeated Mueller, 6-0, 6-2.
