Report

REDCAR are through to the MAXiCab KO Cup Final after being taken all the way to a Super Heat decider at Oxford on Sunday.
The Cheetahs chipped away at the Bears’ six-point lead from the first leg, levelling the aggregate scores on three occasions at Cowley.
The first two of those saw the visitors immediately edge back in front, but a 5-1 to the Cheetahs from Mitch McDiarmid and Jonas Knudsen in Heat 14 after Jody Scott had crashed restored overall parity, and this was maintained in Heat 15 to leave the scores all square at 90-90.
The Super Heat was dramatic with Sam Masters leading from the front for the hosts ahead of Danny King, whilst a tight battle for third place saw Charles Wright just make it to the line ahead of Oxford guest Kye Thomson to send the visitors through.
Masters scored 12+1 in the regular meeting, which Oxford won 48-42, whilst King (14) and Wright (12+1) dominated the Bears’ scoring as they did just enough to set up a Final with holders Poole.
Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “We dug deep, every one of the boys worked so hard and deserved the aggregate win.
“Hats off to Oxford as they gave us two fantastic meetings and fought right to the end.”
