Star Wars fans are hungry right now. While Season 2 of Andor was a rich, delicious meal with which to kick off 2025, we’re now not expecting any canon series or films in the galaxy far, far away until next summer’s big-screen return, The Mandalorian & Grogu (in the meantime, there is at least Visions Season 3 on the horizon). But we do know that Ahsoka will be returning down the line, with Season 2 having recently entered production – and we already have a first-look image.
We have a fresh peek at Eman Esfandi as Rebels’ hero Ezra Bridger, a character who was at the heart of Ahsoka Season 1 – if absent for much of its runtime. The first season of the show saw Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka and Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren searching for the whereabouts of the long-lost Bridger (among other things), where it was revealed he’d been zapped over to another galaxy entirely in the events of Rebels’ finale, stranded on the planet Peridea. Come the season’s end, he was returned to the main Star Wars galaxy (along with the nefarious Grand Admiral Thrawn), with Ahsoka and Sabine now stuck on Peridea. When audiences were finally reintroduced to Ezra in Season 1, he was in bearded wanderer mode. Now he’s finally home in Season 2, he’s scrubbed up, had a shave, and looks to be settling in among the New Republic surroundings.
The image was revealed at San Diego Comic Con, where Lucasfilm Animation is celebrating its 20th anniversary – with Ezra notably originating as an animated character, before going live-action in Ahsoka. Esfandi nailed the spirit of the character as we saw him in Rebels, so hopefully we’re in for more Ezra adventures when Ahsoka Season 2 finally arrives. Sadly, we’re not sure when that’ll be; most likely after The Mandalorian & Grogu, in the final stretch of 2026.
