Last Thursday, businesses and students attended the Computing and Technology Career Fair. This was one of a series of four career fairs scheduled to take place at Trinity this semester.

Over the next few months, companies will open applications for graduate jobs- an important first step towards a future career. Career fairs play a key role in this process by connecting students with potential employers, providing invaluable insights into a variety of career paths and roles. Thursday’s career fair gave students the opportunity to explore possible careers in computing and technology industries by engaging with leading businesses in both the Irish and international markets.

This year’s Computing and Technology Career Fair included a wide range of prominent businesses from various sectors, including financial, travel, and gaming, as well as government agencies. Notable companies included the likes of RyanAir, Amazon, AIB, and even Bank of America.

The Sports Hall remained packed with students from beginning to end, stalls buzzing with activity as students inquired about graduate programmes, career opportunities, and company culture.

Company representatives were cheerful and eager to share valuable advice as well as their own experiences. For example, a representative from Bank of Ireland encouraged students to “remain open-minded” when it comes to careers and always be on the lookout for new opportunities, advice echoed by many others at the fair.

Students left the venue with hands full of pamphlets, free pens, and other goodies, eagerly discussing their takeaways from the event. Overall, students appeared optimistic and more confident after becoming better acquainted with both familiar and new companies.

The Environment and Engineering Career Fair in this series will take place on Thursday, 9th October and will be the final in this series.
