Who Is Arturo Gatti's Widow, Amanda Rodrigues? Found Son Dead 'The Same Way' As Boxing Legend

Arturo Gatti Jr, the 17-year-old son of late boxing legend Arturo Gatti, was found dead in an apartment in Mexico on October 7, 2025. Gatti’s former bodyguard, Chuck Zito, shared the news in a social media post a day after, on October 8, 2025. Arturo Gatti Jr was starting to build a career in the boxing world, following in his father’s footsteps. However, his dreams remained unfulfilled as he took the extreme step to end his life. His mother, Amanda Rodrigues, is going through a tough time as she lost her husband and son in the same way. Here’s everything you need to know about her.

Who is Amanda Rodrigues, Arturo Gatti Jn’s Mother?

Amanda Rodrigues is the woman who is going through the pain of losing her closest family members to unnatural death. She is the widow of former boxing champion, Arturo Gatti. She is from Brazil, and got married in Las Vegas to Arturo Gatti in 2007. Following her husband’s mysterious demise in 2009, she faced public scrutiny and was initially arrested in connection with his death. However, she was later released and not charged after Brazilian authorities ruled it a suicide.

Her son, Arturo Gatti Jr, was an infant when he became fatherless, and Amanda Rodrigues raised him alone. She reportedly never remarried and dedicated her life to her son. She supported Arturo Gatti Jr’s boxing aspirations. In 2011, a Quebec court awarded her control of Arturo Gatti’s estate, which was her means to sustain herself and her son. Regarding her professional life, not much is known, as she has remained out of the media spotlight, despite being the spouse of a well-known sports person.

How did Arturo Gatti Jn die at just 17?

Arturo Gatti’s former bodyguard and close acquaintance, Chuck Zito, revealed that the boxer’s minor son, Arturo Gatti Jn, died by hanging. His cause of death is currently under investigation by Mexican authorities, and they have not provided an update regarding whether it was a s*icide or if there was any foul play involved. Chuck Zito made the post on October 8, 2025, and shared several pictures of the young boxer and his father. He extended his condolences to the grieving Gatti family, including Arturo Gatti’s mom, sisters, brothers, and his daughter, Sophia. Chuck wrote:

“It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR., who was found hanging in an apartment in Mexico yesterday. The same way they found his Father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago. My condolences to Arturo Gatti Seniors – Mom, Sisters, Brothers, and his daughter Sophia.”

Arturo Gatti Jn’s passing brought renewed attention to his father’s death

The news of Arturo Gatti Jr’s death has led to the resurfacing of the controversial death of his father, Arturo Gatti (also called Arturo Gatti Sr). The uncanny similarity between the circumstances surrounding his and his son’s deaths created a stir online. Gatti Sr died under mysterious circumstances in Brazil on July 11, 2009. It occurred when he was vacationing at Ipojuca, Pernambuco, Brazil, with his wife, Amanda Rodrigues, and their 10-month-old son. Brazilian authorities ruled his death a suicide, but this has been disputed by many of his family members and friends.

Independent investigators hired by Gatti Sr’s manager concluded that he was likely m*rdered, citing evidence like a head injury and the unsuitability of the alleged suicide weapon. Brazilian authorities reviewed these findings but maintained their s*icide conclusion. Later in 2011, a Quebec coroner also expressed doubt about the private investigators’ conclusions after a second autopsy included that there was ‘no clear evidence of foul play’.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Arturo Gatti’s family, including his wife, Amanda Rodrigues, during this difficult time and hope they can gradually move past their grief.
