West Coast has completed a trade with St Kilda, securing a future draft pick in an exchange for premiership forward Liam Ryan.

The Eagles added St Kilda’s second-round draft pick in 2026 and have parted with a 2027 third-round selection to complete the deal.

Ryan departs the Eagles after playing 125 games and kicking 158 goals in eight seasons in blue and gold.

A high-flying star at Subiaco, Ryan became a premiership player in just his 13th AFL game after being drafted with pick 26 in 2017.

The skillful forward went on to win the Mark of the Year in 2019 and earn All-Australian selection in 2020.

Ryan, 29, was contracted with the Eagles for next season but requested a trade to the Saints.

“While we are disappointed to lose Liam, we are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved with our Club over the past eight years,” Head of Football John Worsfold said today.

“Liam delivered some unforgettable moments for our members and fans, and he will always hold a special place in our Club’s history for his part in the match-winning chain of possession in the 2018 Grand Final.

“He grew to become a terrific leader amongst our First Nations players, and we will miss his unique energy around the Club.

“We wish Liam, Evana, and their children well for the future and they will always be part of the West Coast Eagles family.”
