After bringing in known producers in Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault last season, the Predators fell flat, finishing 30-44-8 with just 212 goals, 31st in the 32-team NHL. Defensively, they were a little better, finishing 27th. Nashville picked up defenseman Nicolas Hague in a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights and acquired center Erik Haula from the New Jersey Devils. But an aging core remains what the Preds will lean on, for better or worse — the average age of the players locked up beyond this season is 31.71 with that group occupying 53.7% of their cap.
Columbus faltered late after remaining in playoff contention most of the way following the death of star Johnny Gaudreau in August 2024. A 3-9-1 stretch couldn’t be offset by closing the season with six straight wins, as the Blue Jackets missed out on the final Eastern Conference playoff spot to the Montreal Canadiens. The club didn’t make a lot of changes, adding center Charlie Coyle, instead banking on its young core to progress, led by 31-goal seasons from Kirill Marchenko and Adam Fantilli.
This is a great NHL matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
