Former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian, who played MMA in South Korea, was killed in the shooting. He was 33.

U.S. media ESPN reported that Moktarian was shot and killed at 6 p.m. on the 8th (local time) in Riverstone, western Sydney, Australia.

According to ESPN, the New South Wales (NSW) police said in an official statement, “It is presumed to be a ‘targeted attack,’ and the emergency services who were dispatched after receiving the report found Mocktarian shot, but died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.”

Moktarian reportedly suffered the accident while taking an evening walk.

Shortly after the shooting, two cars were found burned near the scene of the incident.

Mokhtarian, who entered the UFC in 2018 after making his professional debut in 2012 and winning eight consecutive games, then ended his career and turned into a coach early on.

In particular, Moktarian is also related to Korea.

In December 2019, he faced “Sting” Choi Seung-woo in an undercard featherweight match of “UFC Fight Night 165” in Busan. At that time, Moktarian was defeated by Choi Seung-woo’s strike, which became his last fight as a UFC fighter.

Upon hearing the news of Moktarian’s death, his student Jesse Swain mourned on social media, saying, “I couldn’t sleep after hearing the news.”
