The Wayne County Board met for its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening in the upstairs courtroom, with 13 members present.
Board Chairman Daryl Hargrave appointed Nate Burgess to fill a vacancy on the Wayne County 911 Authority Board, following a recommendation from 911 Board Chairman Scott Clark.
The board also heard from Dave Shipley of Midwest Telecom, who discussed the outdated internet infrastructure at both the Wayne County Jail and the courthouse. After a detailed discussion, board members voted unanimously to approve a complete system upgrade at a cost of $28,823.13. The expense will be covered using funds already allocated for courthouse repairs and improvements.
A light agenda followed, which included routine office reports from Sheriff Chris Otey, County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow, and Coroner Shari Winter.
In committee reports, Building and Grounds Chairman Quinton Greenwalt informed the board that Phase 8 of the new heating and air conditioning system installation had begun at the courthouse. He presented a contractor’s bill for $29,500, which the board approved without opposition.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
