The chief executive of the country’s biggest media company has ruled out using the proceeds from selling its stake in Domain to lob a multibillion-dollar bid to scoop up the NRL’s entire suite of broadcast rights.
Nine Entertainment chief executive Matt Stanton says he will look at the NRL rights when the imminent tender process kicks off, but was adamant his shareholders have urged him not to spend about $600 million left over from the sale of Nine’s 60 per cent stake in Domain on sport.
