Comcast announced plans to bring symmetrical high-speed internet to more than 7,500 homes and businesses across Teays Valley, West Virginia, expanding service into Hurricane and Scott Depot.

Construction has begun in both communities: Hurricane will see more than 5,000 addresses connected, with the first serviceable addresses expected in early 2026, while Scott Depot will add more than 2,500 addresses and already has service available to some residents.

The company said the full project will finish in 2028.

Comcast framed the rollout as part of a broader push to extend its converged network that it already offers to more than 64 million U.S. homes and businesses.

Local officials welcomed the investment. Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said Comcast’s expansion will help residents navigate a technology‑driven economy and make the area more attractive for living and working.

Comcast also emphasized programs aimed at boosting adoption and digital skills alongside the infrastructure work. The company highlighted Internet Essentials, a low‑cost broadband and device program for eligible households, and noted ongoing contributions to West Virginia nonprofits, Wi‑Fi Lift Zones, and other connectivity initiatives intended to increase economic mobility.

The Teays Valley expansion follows other Comcast projects in West Virginia, including construction in Princeton to connect more than 5,000 homes and businesses, where service has begun for some residents.
