Crvena Zvezda surprised the European basketball public by triumphing over Fenerbahçe on the road, with a final score of 86-81.

Chima Moneke was incredible, finishing the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and was definitely the key player in Zvezda’s win during Tomislav Tomovic’s debut as head coach.

After the match, Moneke gave a statement in which he mentioned the former coach, Ioannis Sfairopoulos, who was fired before the game, after two losses in the first two EuroLeague games, and one defeat in the opening game of the Adriatic League.

As Zvezda’s forward said in his flash interview after the game: “I miss coach Ioannis. I wish you were with us today. Congratulations to coach TT (Tomislav Tomovic), he deserved this victory. I know we have enough in us to win. You can play basketball with that height and physicality; that’s what I do. Whenever I’m able to achieve a double-double with rebounds, I’m proud. It was a deserved victory; we had support.”

Coach Tomovic also added: “We can’t lie, this result also belongs to coach Sfairopoulos”.

Crvena Zvezda now has one win and two losses, the same as Fenerbahce.
