The Allen vs. Makhmudov fight is in the Utilita Arena on October 11. The event starts at 7 p.m. BST. Allen and Makhmudov should make their way to the ring around 10:30 p.m. BST, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

The Doncaster-born Allen (24-7-2) lost early matchups against Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz, but has impressive wins against Lucas Browne and Johnny Fisher. The Fisher win in May, a TKO victory, gave him a measure of revenge following a loss to Fisher in December.

Following thirteen years in the sport, Allen may be knocking on the door of superstardom. A win could bring in massive matchups against heavyweight elites. An underdog, “White Rhino” is ready to let loose against a dangerous Makhmudov.

“I think I thrive off the underdog tag I’ve had most of my career, every time I’ve been expected to win I get beat, I’m not very good with pressure,” Allen told Sky Sports. “That’s why I picked Makhmudov, I think a lot of people will expect him to beat me, but I like that and I like to shock.”

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has a name in mind if Allen can pull off the upset.

“I like the Deontay Wilder fight, personally. We’ve reached out to Shelly Finkel [Wilder’s manager] to talk about that, but let’s see what happens on October 11 first,” Hearn said. “It’s a massive night for Dave and as I say, if he wins, he will waltz into the biggest fight of his career.”

Makhmudov (20-2) is 2-2 in his last four fights. The Russian is a former NABF heavyweight champion who has won 19 fights via knockout.
