Tasma Walton and Hunter Page-Lochard star in a bold new First Nations drama set in Fremantle.
New First Nationss thriller Reckless will premiere in November on both NITV and SBS.
The four-part series starring Tasma Walton (The Twelve, Mystery Road) and Hunter Page-Lochard (The Newsreader, Critical Incident) is described as a is a uniquely Australian take on crime and chaos where small-town secrets, family feuds and guilt make for explosive TV.
When feuding siblings June (Tasma Walton) and Charlie (Hunter Page-Lochard) cover up a hit and run in their hometown of Fremantle, their lives spiral wildly out of control. As the lies pile up, so do the consequences and soon, everyone in town has something to lose.
Reckless is an adaptation of the Scottish mystery thriller Guilt by Neil Forsyth, which screened on BBC First in 2020.
It is adapted by screenwriter Kodie Bedford (Mystery Road, Return to Paradise) who was born and raised in the Midwest of Western Australia with strong family ties to the East Kimberley region. Reckless is shot entirely on location in Fremantle and Perth. Stuart Page (Total Control, Cleverman) is co-writer.
The cast also includes Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Survivors), Clarence Ryan (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Territory, Mystery Road: Origin), Jane Harber (Offspring, The Family Next Door) and Tracy Mann (The Twelve, Top End Bub) as well as Duncan Fellows (Deadloch, The Letdown), Perry Mooney (Population:11, Gold Diggers), Kelton Pell (Mystery Road: Origin, Redfern Now), Matthew Dyktynski (Japanese Story, Offspring), Paul Tassone (The Twelve, Pokerface), Peter Rowsthorn (Kath and Kim, Three Summers), Steve Le Marquand (The Twelve, Mystery Road: Origin), and newcomer Maddie Young.
June and Charlie’s dysfunctional love-hate sibling relationship drives the chaos – she’s the one seemingly keeping it together, he’s the one unwittingly tearing it apart. Together, they’re a ticking time bomb. Their decisions pull everyone around them into a spiral of guilt, laughter and danger.
Fremantle isn’t just the backdrop – it’s a character in itself. Its tight-knit streets, local pubs and ocean views hold both the beauty and menace of a town that never forgets. The result is a story that feels lived-in, layered, vividly Australian and unapologetically Fremantle.
