Scottish celebrity chef Jock Zonfrillo tragically died in 2023 at the age of 46.
He left behind two older daughters from previous relationships, as well as two younger children who he shares with widow Lauren Zonfrillo.
Now his daughter Ava Zonfrillo, 24, has candidly spoken about her grief two years after her TV star father’s passing, and how she’s living a new life now in London.

“It comes in waves,” she told Woman’s Day in a new interview.
“We were in a unique position that it was public and hard to escape and I would often find myself playing things back over and over… sometimes you need that, but you also need to admit to yourself when it’s not serving you.”
She’s now in London and said her late father “would be really proud” of her following her dreams.
“I always knew that I would live abroad at some point, and he did too – [he’d be] in full support,” she said.

At the time of his death, Ava shared a heartbreaking tribute to her late father alongside pictures of the pair together.
“Still can’t accept that we’ll be remembering you for more time than we had you, but it doesn’t mean we’ll love you any less. I love you dad, always,” she wrote in her public Instagram post.
What to say (and not say) to grieving parents
In an extract from her book, Till Death Do Us Part by Lauren Zonfrillo, Lauren spoke about their relationship and how it was love at first sight for the pair.
“We locked eyes for the first time, and it was love at first sight. It took mere days for Jock to tell me he loved me, and we started planning life together,” she wrote.
“I’ve always believed in a big love. One that would change the course of my life, take me somewhere that just kept evolving and blossoming into something more fulfilling and meaningful as the years rolled by.”

The pair met in 2014 and married in 2017.
In the aftermath of Jock’s death, Lauren was not only grappling with her devastating reality but was doing so under the watchful eye of a nation.
As a widely celebrated chef and a judge on the popular Australian cooking show MasterChef, Jock’s death shook Australia.
On top of that, Jock’s face was on billboards all over the country with his latest – and tragically last – season of MasterChef due to air that very night.
She described grief as a “narrow corridor” that gets longer and longer, but she still continues to honour her late husband by sharing videos and recipes on Instagram and sharing insights into their life online.
