Buffalo is coming off its first loss of the season, while Atlanta returns from its bye week looking for a third win of the season. Chicago also had Week 5 off, and the Commanders aim to keep the momentum going from last week’s big win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Buffalo dropped a tough one to division rival New England in Week 5, 23-20. Now the Bills are 4-1, and they take on the 2-2 Falcons for the first time since 2022. That meeting was in Buffalo, where the Bills won 29-15. They currently have a two-game winning streak against Atlanta dating back to 2017. The Falcons beat the Commanders before the bye week, 34-27, and need to continue that trend to keep pace in the NFC South with division-leading Tampa Bay at 4-1. Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had a big game against the Commanders, throwing for 313 yards on 20 of 26 passing with two touchdowns to one interception.

After losing to the Patriots last week, the Bills hold a one-game lead in the AFC East and need to create some separation. Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a decent outing against the Patriots, completing 22 of 31 passes for 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Allen also led the team in rushing with 53 yards, but it wasn’t enough against the Mike Vrabel-coached Pats. Despite the slip-up, Buffalo still sits atop the AFC (along with Indianapolis and Jacksonville) and hopes to get back on the winning track in Week 6.

Washington put on a show in shocking the Chargers in Week 5, 27-10. Its defense showed up big, holding Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert to 166 yards passing and one touchdown. Washington also picked off Herbert once and sacked him four times. Jayden Daniels wasn’t great, but he did enough in his first game back from injury, passing for 231 yards and 1 touchdown, and completing just under 58 percent of his passes. Now they’ll need to duplicate that production at home against the Bears to stay close in the NFC East race.

For the Bears, they’ve won two straight and beaten Las Vegas and Dallas in consecutive weeks before the Week 5 bye. In the past two games for Chicago, quarterback Caleb Williams is looking more comfortable in head coach Ben Johnson’s offense. He completed 41 of 65 pass attempts for 510 yards and five touchdowns to just one interception combined against the Raiders and Cowboys. Now the Bears hope to extend that winning streak to three against the Commanders to stay afloat in a tight NFC North.
