As you’re scouring your waiver wires and wondering who you should claim ahead of Week 7, two Chargers players should take priority, with those being running back Kimani Vidal and tight end Oronde Gadsden II.
After the injuries to Najee Harris and, most recently, Omarion Hampton, Vidal took advantage of his expanded role in Los Angeles’ win over the Dolphins. The second-year back finished with 18 carries for 124 yards and three receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown, out-snapping and out-touching Hassan Haskins.

It’s worth noting that Vidal did have a favorable matchup against a Miami defense that ranks bottom of the league in run defense, but he could be a reliable RB3/Flex option with RB2 upside in favorable matchups.
Hampton is reportedly expected to be out for more than the minimum four weeks, so Vidal will be worth putting in lineups, at least until Hampton is back, and if the Bolts choose to roll with the backfield they currently have and choose not to trade for a back.
Meanwhile, Gadsden has recently taken over as the primary tight end, playing a season-high 75% of snaps in Week 6. He is seeing a significantly higher route and target share than Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin. Against the Dolphins, he capitalized on his increased role, catching seven of eight targets for 68 yards.
This weekend’s opponent, the Colts, has allowed the eighth-most receptions (37) and the ninth-most receiving yards (339), so Gadsden could be a sneaky good start.
