A future queen who is as popular as she is graceful, and often credited with being the face of the next generation of monarchy, Princess Rajwa has been described as Jordan’s answer to the Princess of Wales, who spent some of her childhood in Jordan – though their differences are just as illuminating as their similarities.
Unlike Kate, Rajwa Al Saif was born with royal relatives. The daughter of Khaled Al Saif and Azza Al Sudairi, her mother is a scion of the Al Sudairi dynasty, which has ties to the Saudi Arabian royal family. Princess Rajwa, therefore, is a first cousin twice removed of the nation’s monarch, King Salman. Indeed, the future Jordanian royal was born and raised in Saudi Arabia before studying architecture at Syracuse University, where she graduated in 2017.
In August 2022, the Jordanian royal court announced that this Saudi Arabian architect was engaged to Crown Prince Hussein. The pair met, not through university, but through a mutual friend, and their engagement ceremony was held at Rajwa’s father’s home in Riyadh. Upon the announcement of their engagement, the couple released an official photograph in celebration of the news.
