Changkuoth Jiath has landed at the Demons
Changkuoth Jiath will wear red and blue in 2026, becoming a Demon on the final day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
The Dees secured the dashing defender in a deal with Hawthorn that will see the club part ways with pick No.42 and a future fourth-round selection.
Jiath arrives at Melbourne with 76 senior games to his name, having produced highlights aplenty across the past seven seasons at the top level.
Set to add to the Demons’ defensive unit, Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said the club was thrilled to secure such an exciting talent in Jiath.
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Changkuoth to the club,” Lamb said.
“CJ has a unique and impressive skillset; he is strong in the air, and with his athleticism and explosiveness, will provide some great run for us off half back.
“We’ve seen the impact CJ can have at AFL level, and we’re excited that his future is now in red and blue”
Jiath joined the Hawks via their Next Generation Academy in the 2018 Rookie Draft, making his debut in Round 21 of the following season.
The 26-year-old, who played 20 games this past season, joins Brody Mihocek and Max Heath in signing on with the Dees for 2026.
