Demand for Greece from foreign markets remains at satisfactory levels, as reflected in the scheduling of available airline seats on incoming international flights.

According to the latest data from the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), for the whole of 2025, airlines have scheduled 28.53 million seats on international flights to Greece, up 5.1% from last year.

As expected, the vast majority of these concern the third quarter of the year, which accounts for over 50% of the total number of available seats, while 18.25 million seats remain for the year’s second half, 4.4% more compared to the corresponding period last year.

Analyzing the distribution on a monthly basis, in July available airline seats reached 5.276 million, corresponding to 18.5% of the total. For August, the number of scheduled seats amounts to 5.38 million, with a share of 19%, confirming its title as the “star month” of the tourism season.

The months of September and October continue to record significant momentum, with 4.55 million and 3.03 million available airline seats respectively, reinforcing the trend of lengthening the tourism season and indicating a gradual lifting of the intense seasonality that previously characterized the market.

The average growth rate of the number of seats during the period June-October 2025 is approximately 4% compared to last year. This percentage may seem limited at first glance, but it is considered quite good compared to the performance of the rest of Europe.

In terms of markets, the United Kingdom maintains its leadership with 5.66 million scheduled airline seats for the entire year (+3.7% compared to last year) and 3.58 million (+3.2%) for the rest of the summer season.

Germany follows with 4.86 million seats in total (+4%) and 3 million for the following months (+2.5%). Italy also shows an upward trend, with 2.51 million total seats (+4%) and 1.76 million for the rest of the year (+3.8%), while France records a slight decline to 1.72 million (-3.1%) in total and 1.09 million (-2.8%) for the season. The Netherlands records the largest percentage increase for a European country, with 1.19 million seats for the whole year (+5.3%) and 730,600 for the next months (+2.9%).

The top five is completed by the US, the top market located outside Europe, with 726,088 (+21.4%) scheduled seats to Greece for the whole year, while 431,539 (+22.7%) are available for the rest of the season.

The impressive increase is hardly surprising, as for this summer direct air routes connecting Greece with the US, at the peak of the tourism season, will reach 103 per week, compared to 82 last year and 67 in 2023, while the connections are nine in total (JFK, Newark, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles and Charlotte).
