Shreyovi Mehta’s Image

Shreyovi Mehta (India) spots a bronze-winged jacana (right) approaching a purple swamphen.

Shreyovi was hidden behind a bush next to a trail, with her camera mounted on a tripod.

With a fast shutter speed and impeccable timing, she photographed the swamphen’s wings at full stretch and the jacana’s instant departure.

Surrounded by paddy fields, the Dhanauri Wetlands are home to a variety of wildlife.

At peak migratory season, the site hosts over 50,000 migrant waterfowl.

Efforts are being made to give special protection to this remarkable habitat.
