For their record-breaking sixth time in the Like A Version studio, The Wombats took it back to the 80s with their run at Huey Lewis & The News.
The Liverpudlian trio have just about done it all in the triple j studios. From their very first take on The La’s back in 2008, they’ve run up that hill, checked the price tags, been our shadow and even serenaded us with a Christmas carol.
Now, on the 40th anniversary of Back To The Future, they’re grabbing their hoverboards and taking us back to the future with their take at the 1985 hit, ‘Power Of Love’.
“We all grew up hearing it after watching Back To The Future so it’s ingrained in our minds,” drummer Dan Haggis said.
“As a kid, especially, you just soak it all up don’t you? It just becomes part of your life so every time you hear it, you get memories from that time in your life.
“And it’s just a real cracking tune.”
Busting out a Huey Lewis for your record-breaking sixth Like A Version with life sized wombats on keys and guitar? Great Scott, that’s a good choice.
