After three seasons with the Devils, Lazar signed with the Oilers on July 2 as a free agent, inking a one-year, $775,000 contract.
The 33-year-old forward from Salmon Arm, B.C., posted two goals and three assists in 48 games last season. He has 125 points (47 goals and 78 assists) across 572 career games with the Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and Devils.
Ike Howard draws out of the lineup as a result of Lazar’s addition.
Meanwhile, goaltender Calvin Pickard is set to get the start in net against New Jersey.
Pickard has played in one game so far this season, last Saturday against the Canucks, which the Oilers won 3-1. He stopped 14 shots for a .933 save percentage.
