ST. CHARLES, MO.- Lindenwood Women’s Rugby defeated Dartmouth in a rainy matchup on Saturday morning by a score of 12-5.
Dartmouth struck first in the middle of the first half and would miss the conversion to take the 5-0 lead. Later on in the half, Freda Tafuna ran from 30 yards out to tie the match at five, trucking her way through two defenders to get into the end zone. The score would remain at five a piece at the break.
In the second half, the Lions would score the game-winning try in the 61st minute as Jasmine Fehoko scored from one yard out to give Lindenwood the 10-5 lead. Tafuna added two more points on the conversion to put the Lions in front 12-5 and Lindenwood held onto the lead for the remainder of the second half to improve to 6-1 on the season.
With the win over Dartmouth, the Lions will be hosting the semifinal round of the NIRA tournament on Saturday, November 15. The final game of the regular season will be next Saturday, October 25 at 10 a.m. as Lindenwood will host Davenport University at the Lindenwood Track Complex.
