Rishab Shetty’s Kantara prequel continues its successful run in theatres, with sources close to the project saying that the film’s Tamil version has grossed more than 100 crore. Recently, Kantara: Chapter 1 minted more than 650 crore from theatres worldwide. According to the latest data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s net collection in India alone has crossed 500 crore.

The film’s massive success has primarily been attributed to the positive reception for it across languages. As per Sacnilk data, Dindigul is the district with the highest occupancy rate for Kantara: Chapter 1, followed by Tiruchirappalli, Chennai, Madurai, and Puducherry. That said, the rate of occupancy is proportionate to the number of shows in each location. For example, the aforesaid source of data reveals that the film has 134 shows in Chennai—the most for it anywhere in Tamil Nadu.
