Texas grocery chain H-E-B has teamed up with content creator Connor Dwyer for an official death metal-style T-shirt, which was released this past Friday, October 17th at 10 a.m. It sold out in minutes.

Only 1,000 shirts were made available through H-E-B’s website for $35 each, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).

The collaboration was sparked by Dwyer’s viral TikTok series featuring fictional metal shirts for brands like Cracker Barrel. This marks H-E-B’s first time turning a viral concept into official merch.

Dwyer shared the following:

I started the ‘metal tee’ series earlier this year as a fun side project,” Dwyer said in a written statement. “I’ve always loved taking everyday brands and reimagining them as if they were in completely different worlds, like turning grocery stores into metal bands. A lot of my ideas come from scrolling through my comments section or seeing what people are nostalgic about. If a brand has a loyal fan base or strong identity, that’s usually where I start and WOW does H-E-B have a loyal fan base!
