Latest News: Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday what we knew already: Martin Odegaard (knee) will be out for “weeks” with the injury he sustained in Gameweek 7. Noni Madueke (knee), Kai Havertz (knee) and Gabriel Jesus (knee) also remain unavailable but it’s otherwise good news on the fitness front. Martin Zubimendi is fine, despite being pictured watching Thursday’s open training session from the sidelines, with Arteta explaining that he was merely given an extra day of rest due to international duty and his “load”. Ben White was absent from that same session completely but it was a similar situation, with the Gunners merely monitoring his workload. Piero Hincapie (groin) is also fit. The benching of Declan Rice in Gameweek 4 shows that Arteta is wary of overloading certain players after an international break and the fact that eight of Arsenal’s current first-choice XI – if there is such a thing – started twice for their nations over the last fortnight does raise the possibility of players like Gabriel Martinelli, Mikel Merino, Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Cristhian Mosquera and Christian Norgaard coming into contention on Saturday. It’s worth mentioning that Atletico Madrid are to come on Tuesday, too. Merino, Norgaard or Nwaneri for Zubimendi is one possibility, given what Arteta said on Friday about the latter.

Next Match: Tottenham Hotspur (A)
Latest News: Ollie Watkins (knock), Jadon Sancho (illness) and Emi Buendia (head) look set to be available for Sunday’s trip to north London, with Unai Emery leaving enough doubt by saying slightly cryptically/confusingly that Watkins “normally will be ready for Sunday”. Tyrone Mings (ankle) is close to a return, too, with the defender already in individual training and now attempting to prove his fitness by joining his teammates on the grass. That only really leaves Youri Tielemans (calf), who has reportedly had a setback and could be out until after the November international break. It’ll be interesting to see if Emery sticks with the winning formula from recent weeks, particularly the 4-4-2/4-2-2-2 set-up from Gameweek 7 that saw Donyell Malen score twice alongside Watkins. Lamare Bogarde is performing well enough to arguably merit staying in the side over the fit-again Amadou Onana, although there is the possibility of John McGinn moving back into midfield and Emi Buendia or Evann Guessand coming in further forward. This being an away match, especially a tricky one, probably cements Lucas Digne’s start at left-back, while you’d be surprised if Mings is fit enough to oust Pau Torres at centre-back. Those two positions have typically been the trickiest to guess in 2025/26 so far.
Bournemouth
Next Match: Crystal Palace (A)
Latest News: David Brooks has picked up a hamstring injury while on duty with Wales, so he joins Enes Unal (knee) on the sidelines. Julio Soler remains with his national team for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, too, but Adam Smith (hamstring) has returned to training and could come into contention for a place on the bench. As for the Cherries’ other internationals, Marcos Senesi was among five players who returned late from their national teams, albeit after not kicking a ball for Argentina on Tuesday night. The defender had already trained on Thursday and will do so again on Friday, with Andoni Iraola hopeful his international exertions won’t be a factor in Gameweek 8. Indeed, the only one of that aforementioned quintet who Iraola said played “significant minutes” was Alex Jimenez, perhaps pointing to another start at right-back for James Hill. Brooks’ injury could pave the way for Gameweek 7 goalscorer Justin Kluivert to return to the side, with Marcus Tavernier moving wide. Amine Adli and Ben Gannon-Doak are alternatives on the flanks, of course, but the former’s first Premier League start in Gameweek 6 did not go well. In the middle of the park, last season’s preferred twosome of Lewis Cook and Ryan Christie may again have to be patient on the bench.
Brentford
Next Match: West Ham United (A)
Latest News: Antoni Milambo suffered a season-ending knee injury while playing for the Netherlands under-21s in the last fortnight but other than that, the team news is positive for Brentford. Aaron Hickey trained on Friday despite aggravating a knee niggle in Scotland’s win over Greece, while longer-term absentees Gustavo Nunes (hamstring) and Paris Maghoma (hamstring) are both back on the grass; Nunes even got through 45 minutes for the under-21s on Tuesday. Having understandably and predictably switched to a more conservative 5-3-2 for the visit of Manchester City, it’ll be an interesting gauge of Keith Andrews’ ambition to see how he sets the Bees up at a West Ham United side that is struggling but potentially buoyed by a managerial change. Kristoffer Ajer will drop out if Andrews does move back to the 4-3-3 system that was used in the victory over Manchester United, with Dango Ouattara likely coming back into the side. Keane Lewis-Potter and Rico Henry are left-back alternatives if there are any lingering doubts over Hickey at left-back but other than that, this is a fairly settled Bees side at present. Nine players have started every league match they’ve been available for over the last six Gameweeks, with Hickey and Ouattara the exceptions in this XI.
Brighton and Hove Albion
Next Match: Newcastle United (H)
Latest News: Kauro Mitoma (knock) and Joel Veltman (calf) have trained after missing out in Gameweek 7 but Fabian Hurzeler says there is a “question mark” over both players for the visit of Newcastle United. Brajan Gruda (knee), who dropped out of the Germany under-21 squad last week, has joined Jack Hinshelwood (ankle), Adam Webster (knee) and Solly March (knee) on the injury list, too. In better news, Diego Gomez (muscle) should be fine despite hobbling out of Paraguay’s final friendly in midweek: Hurzeler said that there’s a “high chance” that the midfielder and other returning internationals, bar Gruda, will be “an option to start the game”. Yankuba Minteh may continue on the left if Mitoma is not risked (remember how careful Hurzeler was with the Japanese winger at the back-end of last season), with Georginio Rutter potentially coming back into the side for Gruda. Rutter and Gomez could swap positions from this predicted XI but the Paraguayan did wreak havoc from the right wing in the EFL Cup last month, so may be given a chance there. Hurzeler’s patience with Carlos Baleba seems to be exhausting (he urged the midfielder to “take responsibility” for his performances on Friday), so it won’t be a huge shock to see James Milner get the nod in midfield instead. At the back, Ferdi Kadioglu and Maxim De Cuyper are locked in a tussle at left-back – but the former’s partner gave birth on Friday, so the Belgian may get a recall here.

Next Match: Leeds United (H)
Latest News: Lyle Foster suffered only a dead leg before exiting the South Africa squad this week, so Scott Parker is hopeful that the striker could feature this weekend. Jordan Beyer (hamstring) and Connor Roberts (knee) have both had setbacks and remain out alongside Zeki Amdouni (knee) but there was nothing from Parker on Jaidon Anthony, who suffered a “big hit in the quad” in Gameweek 7. His substitution at Villa Park did sound more precautionary in nature, at least. It’ll be interesting to see what Parker does for this winnable (it may be too early to call it a six-pointer…) home match against a fellow Premier League new boy, especially after criticism from the terraces over the conservative tactics. Does he perhaps drop a centre-half (Josh Laurent, who isn’t really a centre-back anyway!) and throw in an extra midfielder? Alternatively, if Parker wants to keep the flexible wing-back shape, he could move Kyle Walker to centre-half and bring in someone like Jacob Bruun Larsen out wide. Armando Broja and Zian Flemming will battle to stand in for Foster if the South African striker misses out, while we could see Bruun Larsen, Hannibal Mejbri or Marcus Edwards on the right after Loam Tchaouna flattered to deceive in the last couple of outings. Having finished the Villa game with all of Lesley Ugochukwu, Josh Cullen and Florentino in midfield, it’s possible we see Parker unite this trio in a starting XI for the first time – especially if Laurent bows out. Hjalmar Ekdal was mysteriously dropped from the squad for tactical reasons in Gameweek 7, with Parker (generously) praising Axel Tuanzebe after full-time, so it’ll be intriguing to see whether this was a one-week-only affair or the start of a run of games for the latter.
Chelsea
Next Match: Nottingham Forest (A)
Latest News: Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer will be out for another six weeks as his battle to recover from a groin injury drags on. There are also concerns about Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, with Enzo Maresca saying none of them trained on Thursday – despite photographic evidence suggesting otherwise on Neto and Caicedo. All three were then mysteriously/conveniently/suspiciously missing from Friday’s images. Elsewhere, Benoit Badiashile (muscle) has joined Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (thigh) and Liam Delap (hamstring) on the injury list and Mykhail Mudryk remains suspended. In better news, Reece James is “fully fit” despite withdrawing from England duty with a shin wound, while Trevoh Chalobah (suspension), Wesley Fofana (concussion), Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) and Andrey Santos (unspecified) all return. Santos, Romeo Lavia, James and Malo Gusto are all options in the middle of the park if the worst comes to worst regarding Enzo and Caicedo, with Facundo Buonanotte and Estevao possibilities in the ’10’ role. Maresca is well stocked out wide in the event of a Neto absence, too, with Jamie Gittens, Estevao and Alejandro Garnacho alternatives on the flanks. Joao Pedro is the one near-certainty to start in attack (he’s suspended in the next Champions League game, too), while Tosin and Chalobah are the favourites to make up the all-new centre-half partnership – but Josh Acheampong did little wrong against Liverpool and can feel hard done by if demoted to bench duty.
Crystal Palace
Next Match: Bournemouth (H)
Latest News: Oliver Glasner reported no fresh concerns from the international fortnight. The Palace boss had previously expressed hope of long-term absentee Chadi Riad (knee) returning to fitness after the October break but his comeback has been delayed 1-2 weeks, so he remains out alongside Cheick Doucoure (knee) and, presumably still, Caleb Kporha (back). The defeat to Everton ended Palace’s long unbeaten run but it’s a game that the Eagles ought to have won, and you’d struggle to see Glasner shaking things up after a solitary undeserved loss. In fact, Palace have one of the most settled sides in the division: 10 players have started every single Premier League match they’ve been available for this season, with Yeremy Pino the exception.
Everton
Next Match: Manchester City (A)
Latest News: Loanee Jack Grealish is out of Gameweek 8: he can’t face his parent club, Manchester City, at the Etihad this weekend. Nathan Patterson also looks set to miss out after picking up an injury with the under-21s in midweek. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at least returns from a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation, while there’s also good news about Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Merlin Rohl (hip), both of whom are training again. There was no update on Michael Keane‘s fitness after the centre-half “got something between the ribs” in the Gameweek 7 win over Crystal Palace but Keane was spotted in the midweek training gallery, so we assume all is okay there. Dewsbury-Hall for Grealish is the likely swap at the Etihad, with Iliman Ndiaye switching to the flanks to accommodate him. We could see Carlos Alcaraz get his chance, too, after he came off the bench to great effect against Palace. Tyler Dibling, anonymous against the Eagles before coming off at the interval, likely drops out.
Fulham
Next Match: Arsenal (H)
Latest News: Antonee Robinson (knee), Rodrigo Muniz (muscle) and Sasa Lukic (groin) will miss the visit of Arsenal, while Samuel Chukwueze (calf) is likely to join them on the sidelines as he is to undergo a scan on an international break injury. Gameweek 7 absentees Kenny Tete (knee) and Raul Jimenez (hip) face assessment, too, with Marco Silva saying on Friday that the pair are “doubts” and that he is “not sure that they can be involved in the squad list”. That doesn’t leave much for Silva to play with if those two make it a six-strong injury list, although he is at least still well-stocked with alternative attacking midfielders in the shape of Adama Traore, Emile Smith Rowe and Kevin. Silva doesn’t seem prepared to throw in the teenage striker Jonah Kusi-Asare yet, however, so it’ll have to be an attacking midfielder operating as a false nine again – it was Josh King in Gameweek 7 – if Raul misses out. Harrison Reed and Tom Cairney will battle to replace Lukic in the middle of the park.
Leeds United
Next Match: Burnley (A)
Latest News: Wilfried Gnonto (hernia) remains out despite recovering from a calf issue, while Harry Gray (hip) is still sidelined. Noah Okafor (adductor) is a fresh doubt, too. There are two bits of good team news, at least, with Lucas Perri (muscle) back in training and Daniel James (ankle) ahead of schedule and potentially even in contention for a place on the bench. Daniel Farke confirmed that Perri wasn’t quite ready to trouble Karl Darlow but the Leeds manager’s capacity to name an unchanged team for the fifth straight game may otherwise be threatened by Okafor’s fitness troubles, so Jack Harrison will be poised to come in down the left flank if the Swiss winger misses out – as seems likely to be the case based on well-placed sources. Apart from that, the likes of Joel Piroe, Lukas Nmecha, Ao Tanaka and Jaka Bijol will probably have to remain patient as Farke keeps faith with a side that has been competitive against the Premier League big boys.
Liverpool
Next Match: Manchester United (H)
Latest News: Alisson (hamstring), Jayden Danns (hamstring) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) will miss the visit of Manchester United, while Wataru Endo wasn’t spotted in training on Friday after pulling out of the Japan squad over the October break. However, it’s seemingly good news on two others who had injury scares over the last fortnight. Ibrahima Konate (thigh) was substituted in Gameweek 7 before exiting the France camp early with the same injury, while Ryan Gravenberch (hamstring) came off at half-time for the Netherlands last weekend. But Arne Slot was positive on both players on Friday (“Ryan is completely fit”, “Ibou… started his sessions again and [is] expected to train with us today”) and the pair were spotted in training on Friday, so we’re assuming all is okay. The fact that Alexis Mac Allister, who hasn’t looked fully fit this season, played 90 minutes for Argentina on Wednesday morning may solve Slot’s ongoing midfield headache for one week, with Dominik Szoboszlai moving back alongside Gravenberch as a consequence. That would free up Florian Wirtz to return after a decent cameo at Stamford Bridge, while it’d also give Conor Bradley a reprieve at right-back – not that he or Jeremie Frimpong have really convinced. There is an ongoing question of who starts up front but after Slot said Alexander Isak’s “pre-season” was now over and that he is “close to the level he should be”, there may be less of a decision to be made. Six days separate Isak’s final run-out for Sweden and Sunday’s clash with the old enemy, too, so there will be fewer concerns about fatigue.
Manchester City
Next Match: Everton (H)
Latest News: Omar Marmoush (knee) and Rayan Ait-Nouri (ankle) were spotted in training on Thursday and are “close to coming back”, according to their manager in the following day’s presser. Rodri, who came off with a hamstring injury in the win over Brentford a fortnight ago, is out, however. There was also no Abdudokir Khusanov (ankle) in Sky Sports’ training ground video, suggesting he’ll miss out again. Nico Gonzalez will step in for Rodri, then, and you wonder if Bernardo Silva may be added to the midfield mix given that Nico is no one-man, like-for-like replacement for Rodri. That said, this Everton side will likely present itself in a low block at the Etihad, so it probably calls for the box-crashing of Phil Foden and Tijjani Reijnders to give a nicely rested Erling Haaland some support. Tight-space specialists like Oscar Bobb and Rico Lewis may also come into consideration, although it will likely be too soon for the lock-unpicking Rayan Cherki to start, given his length of absence. The same game-time caution goes for Ait-Nouri, Marmoush and Mateo Kovacic, the latter of whom returned just before the break.
Manchester United
Next Match: Liverpool (A)
Latest News: Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo were all absent from training on Thursday but they’d merely been given extra time off to recover after returning from international duty. The other absentees from the training ground were the three flagged players: fresh injury concern Ayden Heaven (unspecified), the sidelined Lisandro Martinez (knee) and the doubtful Noussair Mazraoui (unspecified). Casemiro’s 180 minutes for Brazil and late return may factor into Ruben Amorim’s thoughts, with Manuel Ugarte a rested alternative in the middle of the park. As for Amad, Amorim doesn’t often start him at right wing-back in the toughest fixtures – so if there’s no space in the dual ’10’ roles for him, it may be bench duty at Anfield. Patrick Dorgu would stand to benefit. Mason Mount’s strong display against Sunderland will make it difficult for Cunha to reclaim his place, and that’s even before factoring in the Brazilian’s international exertions.
Newcastle United
Next Match: Brighton and Hove Albion (A)
Latest News: Lewis Hall (hamstring), Tino Livramento (knee), Harrison Ashby (thigh) and Yoane Wissa (knee) all remain out, although a second scan on Hall has revealed good news (he won’t be out long) and Wissa is on the grass for the first time. International break injuries sustained by Joelinton (groin) and Lewis Miley (calf) don’t seem to have amounted to much, with Eddie Howe saying on Friday that the former “seems to have come back okay”. Jacob Ramsey (ankle) is fit, too, while Will Osula’s ankle issue only means modified training and not match-day unavailability. There’s not much debate in defence with Hall and Livramento out and Howe unlikely to disrupt the blossoming Botman-Thiaw partnership at centre-half, while Joelinton’s positive prognosis lessens the likelihood of midfield changes. Ramsey, Miley and Joe Willock are the alternatives, if needed. In fact, Newcastle had fewer senior players on international duty than any other Premier League club, with only four of them – Messrs Tonali, Guimaraes, Gordon and Woltemade – starting a match for their countries. With Wissa still out, the question over Woltemade’s workload was posed to Howe on Friday, but the Newcastle boss said that the German “has carried that burden really well” so far.
Nottingham Forest
Next Match: Chelsea (H)
Latest News: Douglas Luiz (hamstring), Murillo – only on the bench in Gameweek 7 after recent thigh issues – and Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin) are all fit for the visit of Chelsea. Chris Wood (knee), who came off in New Zealand’s draw with Norway on Tuesday, is the only slight concern but Ange Postecoglou said on Friday that he was not unduly worried, adding that it was only “a little bit of a niggle”. The returning internationals are otherwise in good nick, so Ola Aina (hamstring) is the sole definite absentee as it stands. Postecoglou said Luiz, Zinchenko and Murillo have had “two good weeks” and while he did add that they “haven’t played [for a while]”, they weren’t risked before the break for the express reason of being fit for Gameweek 7 onwards. Zinchenko’s availability (he’s not a wing-back!) may see Postecoglou move back to a 4-2-3-1 after a recent dalliance with a 3-4-3, with extra centre-halves like Morato and Jair Cunha not needed. Up top, Postecoglou may prefer Igor Jesus over the misfiring Wood regardless of fitness concerns. Dan Ndoye was the only one of Forest’s wingers to kick a ball over the break (and he got 180 minutes to boot), so there is the possibility that Postecoglou favours the rested Dilane Bakwa, Omari Hutchinson and/or Callum Hudson-Odoi in the early kick-off.
Sunderland
Next Match: Wolverhampton Wanderers (H)
Latest News: Regis Le Bris was “positive” about Omar Alderete (muscle) and especially Noah Sadiki (ankle), who were the subject of injury scares while representing their countries over the last week. Both players were indeed spotted in training after Le Bris’ presser, which hopefully bodes well. Elsewhere, Le Bris confirmed that he had no other fresh concerns from the international break, so it’s still just Romaine Mundle (hamstring), Dennis Cirkin (wrist), Aji Alese (shoulder), Leo Hjelde (Achilles) and Habib Diarra (groin) on the injury list. Reinildo Mandava is also unavailable: he serves the final game of a three-match ban. There are a few big calls for Le Bris to make this week, especially after he arguably misfired with his selection at Old Trafford a fortnight ago. Would he entertain the idea of bringing in Dan Ballard and moving to a back five, for example, as he did to stem the Manchester United attack in Gameweek 7? You’d assume not given that it’s a home match against 20th-placed Wolves but there could still be a handful of personnel changes, with perhaps Enzo Le Fee moving back to the left wing given that his tracking back would help the floundering Arthur Masuaku. Speaking of whom, does Le Bris just stick it out with the defensively questionable left-back until Reinildo returns or shift things around, perhaps switching Trei Hume over to the opposite flank and promoting Lutsharel Geetruida to the starting XI? Chris Rigg will hope to get a recall in the middle, likewise Chemsdine Talbi – who has actually looked better on the left of late – further forward. Eliezer Mayenda and Bryan Brobbey are putting pressure on Wilson Isidor up top but the latter hasn’t really had a great deal of service of late, so he might be given the benefit of a juicy home fixture where he’ll surely see more of the ball.
Tottenham Hotspur
Next Match: Aston Villa (H)
Latest News: Randal Kolo Muani (dead leg) played 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly over the break and is now available for selection. Spurs could soon be further boosted by the return of Dominic Solanke (ankle), although Thomas Frank said on Friday that the striker was still only in individual training. Similarly, Radu Dragusin (knee) and Koto Takai (foot) have been on the grass recently but it’s unclear just how match-fit they are. James Maddison (knee) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) are still unavailable, while Yves Bissouma was stretchered off with an ankle injury while featuring for Mali over the break and faces “weeks” out. We haven’t had an update yet on Ben Davies (muscle), who limped out of Wales’ defeat to Belgium. After all that… what odds on an unchanged team from Gameweek 7? Mathys Tel impressed in the win over Leeds and could keep his place, with his unavailability in Europe an extra reason to play him over Richarlison in Gameweek 8. Xavi Simons also had what Frank called his “best game” in a Spurs shirt and, unlike 14 of his teammates, didn’t start a single game over the break. Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus and Pedro Porro all started twice for their countries, like Tel, but then so did several others like Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall, and this being a Sunday afternoon game does give the internationals a bit more of a buffer.
West Ham United
Next Match: Brentford (H)
Latest News: Niclas Fullkrug (thigh) looks to have joined George Earthy (hamstring) on the injury list: the German striker picked up an injury in training, with the Hammers still awaiting the results of a scan. Everyone else is fit, with Tomas Soucek back from a three-match ban. Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly trialled a wing-back system over the break, while there has been plenty of talk of which of Callum Wilson and Callum Marshall gets the nod in Fullkrug’s absence. However, there’s a good chance that none of the above plays out, with Lucas Paqueta or Jarrod Bowen leading the line instead and Soucek brought in for the absent Fullkrug. Nuno has named pretty much the same team in his two matches so far, the one exception being the fit-again Aaron Wan-Bissaka coming in for Kyle Walker-Peters.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Next Match: Sunderland (A)
Latest News: Vitor Pereira reported some minor concerns ahead of the trip to Sunderland, including a Hwang Hee-chan injury. Jeanricner Bellegarde is also struggling with illness. Aside from those two doubts, it’s only Leon Chiwome (knee) who is confirmed as unavailable, with Toti Gomes (illness) and Matt Doherty (wrist) recovering over the break. Pereira added that Jorgen Strand Larsen is “trying to help the team” by playing through “pains”. Who comes in for Hwang, if he’s out, will be Pereira’s main conundrum this weekend, with Rodrigo Gomes and Fer Lopez the likeliest candidates. We have seen Pereira switch from a 4-3-3 to a five-man defence midway through the last two games, however, so it’s possible someone like Emmanuel Agbadou comes in instead and the system changes. Bar an injury-enforced alteration at full-back and a rest for Joao Gomes in the EFL Cup, Pereira’s team has otherwise remained unchanged over the last three unbeaten games in league and cup.
